Description

The idea of this project is to identify jobs that can be scheduled to a time when the ecological impact of running said jobs will be the least using artificial intelligence and open source data of factors like carbon intensity of a location.

This system can be used in medical fields for a variety of use cases to save energy. Check out a few examples below:

  1. Scheduling printing of reports: Printers are one of the most energy-consuming devices in the grid. We can schedule print jobs to run at a low-impact time to save 50-80% of energy.
  2. Routine backup and archival jobs: Backup and archival jobs are some of the most repetitive jobs that can be scheduled for low-intensity periods.
  3. Data-intensive research computations: Medical research and laboratory facilities often perform energy-consuming tasks like sequencing and chemical analysis, which can be scheduled for a low-impact period.
  4. Software updates for medical devices: Software and system updates can also be scheduled for low-impact periods.
