Release notes

copy_customer2category.sh is a tool to copy Operations Manager for UNIX or Linux instrumentation binaries from the customer tree (/var/opt/OV/share/databases/OpC/mgd_node/customer) to the "customer"category (/var/opt/OV/share/databases/OpC/mgd_node/instrumentation/customer).

It creates the "customer" category, or uses an already existing "customer category. The script translates the directory layout from the old customer tree to the new OMU 9.x category based instrumentation directory layout. And it copies the instrumentation files to the corresponding directory.

The instrumentation directories of Obsolete platforms (e.g. DCE agent platforms) will be skipped.

The main use case for creating this "customer" category is to be able to use the instrumentation from the customer tree in Operations Manager i (OMi) as OMi 9.x only imports category based instrumentation when importing an OMU configuration download.

NOTES:

1. Since the scripts and binaries are copied, the space is needed twice. If you have a lot of instrumentation in the customer directory, you may want to remove the "customer" category again after creating a configuration download for OMi.

2. This is only needed for OMi 9.x. With OMi 10.x, this functionality is already part of the ConfigExchange.sh/ConfigExchange.bat CLI tool.
