Description

The VROPS (vRealize Operations) Integration Content for Operations Connector section provides created content for integrating with VROPS environment.

Operations Connector for VROPS integrates VROPS domain manger and Operations Bridge Manager (OBM) so that the gathered systems-management data about the events, topology and metrics in VROPS environment is made available to the OBM solution. Such data can then be monitored and processed properly within OBM. Operations Connector for VROPS therefore enables you to establish a link between a VROPS environment and operations management in OBM.

What's new in VROPS Connector 24.3Optimize health monitoring event

Whenever OBM doesn't receive any alerts from the VROPs connector for a predefined duration, the health monitoring feature of the VROPs connector sends a critical event alert to OBM. The duration of this alert is specified in the Alert Collection Failure Skip Time. This functionality overloads the OBM event browser with unnecessary critical event alerts. With the Enable/Disable Alert Collection Failure event, you can now enable or disable this functionality and stop these unnecessary alerts.

Event Filtering

You can use the Event Filtering feature to configure the Connector to filter the alerts coming from VROPS and receive only the pre-configured alerts from VROPS.

HTTPS support for Operations Agent

In the earlier versions of Operations Agent (OA), the connector sends the data to OA over the HTTP protocol without any secure mechanism. From the OA 12.26 and later versions, the connector must send the data to OA over a secure HTTPS protocol.

Supported authentication types are No-Auth and Basic-Auth.

You can use this feature to enable the connector to monitor its own health and generate events.

Alert Symptoms

You can use this feature to enable the connector to gather symptoms (root cause) data for alerts from domain manager. Then you can use this alert symptoms data to troubleshoot issues.

Alert Custom Groups

You can use this feature to enable the connector to receive custom group name details along with alerts. By default, the connector doesn't receive the custom group details.

The connector for VROPS 2020.08 is now designed to support Token-based authentication for VROPS. By default, the connector will now be using this authentication to connect to the VROPS servers. Token-based authentication allows all users who attempt to log in to the VROPS server using a secure token which is provided by the server.
With this release, you can configure VROPS connector to monitor multiple VROPS servers through a single deployment of policies.
VmWare Resource IDattribute is introduced to reduce the ambiguity while resolving related CIs for events. For more information
The Connector for VROPS can now discover vSAN clusters monitored by VROPS instances. These clusters will be automatically propagated from the VROPS server to OBM.
Connector for VROPS now discovers Datacenters from VROPS as instances of VMware Datacenter CI type instead of Datacenter CI type.
Enhanced related CI mapping for events
VmWare Resource ID attribute is introduced to reduce the ambiguity while resolving related CIs for events.

What's New:

Installation and configuration of the Connector:With this release, you must deploy the connector to an Operations Agent node to view events, metrics, and topology from VROPS. You can now install, deploy,configure and manage the integration using Operations Bridge Manager (OBM).

Event filtering based on resource pool:The event collection is enhanced to filter events based on their corresponding resource pool. Event filtering based on resource pool allows you to filter out events with the help of a set of conditions. Events matching these rules will either be forwarded or suppressed from reaching OBM event console.

Note:

Operations connector for VROPS is having only Zip file from 2020.05, there is no seperate tar file.For more information, please read install section of document(URL given below).

Great improvements in the 2020.08 version!

I appreciate that OC for VROPS has been revamped in this version. The installation is now done on the DPS. After that it is just a matter of deploying the appropriate MT or Aspect(s) to the "connector" server (which from now on means a server with a normal OA (Operations Agent), not the general OC).
